Bells in Motion - Christmas Handbell Concert

On Saturday December 2nd, at 7:00 p.m., Bells in Motion will present a concert at First Mennonite Church, 250 S Baltimore, in Morton, IL. Doors open one-half hour before the concert. Tickets are $15/adult and $5/children (12 and under) and can be purchased at the door. Bells in Motion is a progressive handbell ensemble based in Springfield, IL. Formed in 1997, the 19 members of this auditioned group are from Central Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Since their inception, they have performed at many notable venues and festivals in the US, Canada, and Europe. The ensemble combines seven octaves of bronze and aluminum handbells and chimes and uses additional instruments such as string bass, percussion, and piano to enhance the music. They perform music ranging from jazz to classical, big band to blues, Broadway to rock, and sacred to original compositions. The group also has two CDs for sale – “Sleigh Bells” and “Bronze Images” which can be purchased at the concert or are available by visiting the group’s website at www.bellsinmotion.org.
Reception to follow the concert in the Fellowship Hall at the church.

Between May and November the community is invited to enjoy fun, shop local experiences in Morton, Tremont, Delavan, and Pekin on the Fourth Friday of every month. From 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, artists, businesses and organizations will be partnering to create a dynamic shopping experiences for all. You will enjoylocal art, mingle with the artists, view featured exhibits, take in performance demonstrations, hear live music and entertainment, explore local shops and restaurants and so much more.  Bring the kids downtown Morton to show off their costumes and go business to business collecting treats.

The Best Decorated Business will receive a traveling trophy and a Chamber advertising package worth $500. The Best Costumed Employee will receive $50 in Chamber Checks. The Chamber would encourage all downtown Chamber Member merchants to participate in this new event by staying open until 6:00 pm that evening, handing out candy, and offering a special activity, menu, or sale at your business.

Race Location: Starts and stops at the Memorial Plaza in Downtown Morton

Run Awards: Top three male and female runners will receive medals, along with top three youth (under age 12). This Run will not be officially timed. Runners will be placed in order they finish.

Proceeds: Fundraising event for Totes for Ta-Tas which will be held on November 5th to support the mission of Illinois CancerCare Foundation

Entry Fee: $25.00 per person. Registrations received after October 1st will not be guaranteed a shirt on Run/Walk Day.
