Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
@ 180 Detroit Ave.

The current Village of Morton waste disposal contract includes two household hazardous waste disposal events over the seven-year period.  The first is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, from 7:30 am to 3:30pm at the former Farm and Fleet parking lot on Detroit Avenue.

Morton residents will be able to dispose of items otherwise prohibited in landfills and which cannot legally enter sanitary or storm water sewage systems.  These include normal household, lawn and garden chemicals, paint, batteries, electronics, and other items. Disposal will be managed by Area Disposal / Grimm Bros. Trucking, and their contractor Veolia, an international firm specializing in household hazardous waste disposal. Morton police will provide traffic control at the site to facilitate entry and departure.  There is no limit on the amount of material for disposal of acceptable items, but because the service is limited to Morton residents, identification will be required for disposal.

Detailed information will be posted on the Village of Morton website, Comcast TV channel 22 and ITV-3 channel 23, and in September utility bills.  Information is also available by phone from Village Hall, 266-5361, or Grimm Bros. Trucking, 444-8900.
